A LETTER FROM DAVID TILTON
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is my great privilege to let you know that President Barack Obama and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke have named AtlantiCare a recipient of the 2009 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The prestigious Baldrige Award is only given to a handful of businesses in the country each year judged to be outstanding in several categories, including leadership, customer focus, and quality results. We are one of only a few health systems in the nation to receive this honor.
This recognition is extremely meaningful for AtlantiCare because it affirms our 22-year quest for excellence, involving the extraordinary vision, commitment and hard work of our trustees, our leadership team, our staff, our physicians and our community.
You can be proud to know how deeply and sincerely this organization cares about improving the quality of life in our region. The Baldrige Award reinforces what I believe our patients and customers already know—that AtlantiCare is truly committed to building a healthy community.
Baldrige Award winners have the opportunity and the responsibility of sharing our performance excellence strategies with other organizations in the country. We are looking forward to acting as mentors and role models to others who aspire to offer the highest quality of care and service to their patients and customers.
We will formally accept the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in early 2010.
The receipt of this award is not the end of our quality journey. In many ways it is just the beginning. We will celebrate for sure, but then we’ll get right back to improving the quality of care and service we provide for this community.
