Students at Ocean City Intermediate School have spring garden fever!!!
To get ready for planting, students made various seeds tapes by reading the packaging instructions and measuring the distance for each individual seed or grouping of seeds to be placed on the toilet paper.
Other students were busy caring for potato plants they started in class from just a piece of the potato and eye!
In addition, two new cold frames have been purchased and a beautiful new strawberry bed was constructed in TechEd out of cedar.
Plants and seeds were donated by a nearby garden center. During the first weeks of April, students have been busy tilling the soil and planting seeds, seed tapes and plants in their five raised garden beds. Radishes, carrots, 4 types of lettuce, beets, cucumbers, string beans, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, potatoes, Swiss chard, kale, spinach, garlic, chives and oregano are now planted and ready to spread their tiny roots into the soil and drink up the warming sunshine!
