PRIDE (Promoting Respect, Individuality, Diversity, and Equality) Scholarship

Goal:

To encourage students that identify as LGBT to pursue careers in healthcare and related fields.
Award:
Scholarship in the amount of $500 to be used toward tuition or books.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Graduating high school senior who self identifies as LGBT and who will pursue a career in healthcare related field.
2. Student will enroll full-time (as defined by their college/university) at one of the following 2 or 4 year colleges or university:
Atlantic Cape Community College
Cumberland County College
Richard Stockton University
Rowan University
3. GPA - 2.5 or above
4. One (1) reference letter from school guidance counselor (must include students GPA).
5. Essay: (not to exceed 800 words)

a. Why interested in healthcare
b. Area of interest (physician, nursing, allied health, information technology, pharmacy, laboratory…)
c. Importance of reducing health disparities within the LGBT community. (Health disparities are differences in the incidence, prevalence, mortality, and burden of diseases and other adverse health conditions that exist among specific population groups in the United States.– National Institutes of Health)
Note: Funds will be distributed to student once they present proof of enrollment in accredited school. Selected student and his/her parents will be invited to AtlantiCare's 6th Annual Diversity and Inclusion Event to be held in November 2016 at Richard Stockton University.

Deadline for submission: April 30, 2016

Application Packet must include:

1. Completed Application
2. A recommendation letter from school guidance which must include students current GPA.
3. Essay

2015 Mainland Expansion

AtlantiCare cut the ribbon on the expansion of ARMC Mainland Campus June 4, 2015 – marking the second phase of the $62.5 million Mainland Modernization Project. The a two-story, 35,000 square foot expansion, which focuses in part on the increased need for surgical services, opened in mid-June.

About the Expansion

Groundbreaking for the $62.5 million project took place February 24, 2014. It includes a more than 35,000 square foot expansion at the Mainland Campus front entrance, upgrades to the existing facility, which opened in June, 1975, and additional enhancements. The expansion focuses on the increased need for surgical services.

The new two-and-a-half story addition, named the Rothman Institute Pavilion, in recognition of the Rothman Institute's $3 million gift to the ARMC Mainland Transformation Campaign, includes:

Ground floor

  • Partial basement for mechanical and storage space

First floor

  • New reception area, lobby and registration
  • New gift shop
  • New coffee bar
  • Same Day Surgery suite with 10 private patient bays

Second Floor

  • Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with 22 beds
  • New hybrid operating room
  • Two new general cardiothoracic operating rooms

The Modernization has also included the addition of 223 parking spaces and other exterior and interior upgrades. Additional renovation work will continue into 2016.

Healing Arts

The works of 70 artists from New Jersey and the Philadelphia area are featured in the expansion and other areas of the Modernization Project. The 225 works include two-dimensional and three-dimensional original pieces; oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings; gicleé prints; mixed media art; photography; mosaics; ceramics; fabric art; collages, glass arts; and sculptures.It includes commissioned original works by eleven artists. The works are funded through AtlantiCare's Healing Arts Program, in part, by donations to the AtlantiCare Foundation.
