AtlantiCare Young Professionals (AtlantiCare YP) presented a donation of nearly $5,000 on December 12 to the Stanley M. Grossman Pediatric Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Atlantic City Campus Emergency Department to assist in funding its new children’s activity center & learning wall.
Members of the YP program were invited to a tour of the newly installed activity center, which includes one sensory learning wall, four adventure road wall activities, one magnetic activity table and replacement magnets. The activities are intended to encourage fine motor development.
“The addition of these activity centers in the patient rooms and waiting area have made a tremendous impact when a child finds themselves in need of emergency care,” said Mary Stapleton, RN, BSN, clinical manager, ARMC City Campus Emergency Room. “We can’t thank the AtlantiCare YP members enough for their generosity.”
This year, the Young Professionals set a fundraising initiative to provide the Pediatric Emergency Department with the new activity center and furniture for the waiting area designed to offer a level of comfort during what could be moments of heightened stress for both children and family members. More than $8,000 was raised through AtlantiCare YP’s membership and event tickets.
“The generosity of the members and supporters of AtlantiCare YP program is greatly appreciated,” said Lori Herndon, president and CEO, AtlantiCare. “It is wonderful that they are embracing the program and its mission in helping to improve the future of our community. I can’t wait to see what they do next year.”
