There are many ways to make a gift to the Mainland Campus Transformation Campaign. Choose a giving strategy that matches your philanthropic goals and financial situation. The AtlantiCare Foundation experts would be happy to discuss the best way for you to make a gift, but here is a general overview:
If you make your gift with a check or by credit card, you may be eligible for a deduction for the full value of your gift. This deduction may be available for up to 50% of your Adjusted Gross Income and carried forward for up to five additional tax years.
Your donations may be spread out over a five-year period. We can help you structure a payment schedule that accommodates your individual needs.

If you give appreciated securities you have owned for at least one year, you may be eligible for a deduction for the full value of the security on the date we receive it. This deduction may be available for up to 30 percent of your Adjusted Gross Income and carried forward for up to five additional tax years.
If you, like many individuals, own real estate for which you have no further use, this asset may offer an attractive way to make a substantial gift and simultaneously realize important tax and income benefits. You can donate your personal residence, vacation property, commercial property, building lot, undeveloped land, etc. You may be able to significantly reduce the amount of income, capital gain and estate taxes you otherwise might have to pay. You can even deed a personal residence and retain the right to live in it for the rest of your life.
Under certain circumstances, art, jewelry, antiques and other tangible personal property may fund a gift
You can use assets from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other qualified pension or profit-sharing plan to fund your gift.
Since these assets remain the most highly taxed asset in many estates, people who want to avoid taxes to their estates find them particularly attractive. These gifts are usually credited toward the campaign goal at their current full face value.
A gift through your will or trust could provide a substantial gift to the Mainland Transformation Campaign without impacting your lifestyle as long as you live. Consider giving a percentage of your estate, the remainder of your estate after all other obligations and gifts have been paid, a particular asset, or a specific amount. Pledges from wills or trusts of people over the age of 65 are credited toward the campaign goal at their current face value.
There are a variety of ways to use life insurance to make a substantial gift to AtlantiCare. Depending on the type of policy you donate, you may receive an immediate income tax deduction, as well as deductions for future premium payments. The full face value of gifts of existing or new policies are usually credited toward the campaign goal.
You can make a gift to the Mainland Transformation Campaign through a trust or annuity that will pay you and/or another beneficiary annual income for life. At the death of the last income beneficiary, the remaining principal is transferred to AtlantiCare. These gifts may be credited toward the campaign goal at their full face value.
