AtlantiCare marks completion of phase one of
AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin Campus

AtlantiCare, a member of Geisinger Health System, marked the completion of its first operational facilities in the AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin Campus on October 24.

Marchal McKenna Belfield Smith Motiwal Arnone Spodofora Herndon CharltonPaul Marchal, Stafford councilman; Sharon McKenna, Stafford councilwoman; Margaret Belfield, executive vice president and chief operating officer, AtlantiCare; Alan Smith, Stafford councilman; Jatin Motiwal, vice president, AtlantiCare Physician Group and Regional Network; Eugene Arnone, chair, AtlantiCare Health System Board; John Spodofora, mayor, Stafford Township; Lori Herndon, president and CEO, AtlantiCare; and Michael Charlton, vice chairman, AtlantiCare System Board, cut the ribbon on the first of two buildings at the AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin Campus on October 24.

Center staff gave attendees a first-hand overview and tour of the fully renovated and repurposed 3,800-square-foot building (formerly a Pizza Hut). It will temporarily include the following services, which are moving from 712 East Bay Avenue:
• AtlantiCare Physician Group (APG) Primary Care Plus
• APG Cardiology
• APG OB/GYN
• APG Surgical Associates (General and Bariatric Surgical Services)
• AtlantiCare Clinical Labs

AtlantiCare anticipates opening an Urgent Care Center in this building in summer, 2017.

“What I have found is that when AtlantiCare cuts a ribbon – or opens a door – it impacts the health and wellness of that community in ways that go far beyond medical needs,” said Michael Charlton, vice chairman, AtlantiCare System Board. “While AtlantiCare is making it easier and more convenient to access healthcare services, it is also investing in Ocean County – and in this community – by developing 60 thousand square feet of healthcare space right here.”

“We’re excited about AtlantiCare’s plans for our community and look forward to the completion of the Health Park,” said John Spodofora, mayor, Stafford Township. “This is a tribute to what AtlantiCare stands for – not only providing services but also engaging in an active dialogue with the community to continuously improve access to care and the quality of life for our residents.”

AtlantiCare identified the need for increased services through patient feedback, focus groups, market research, a community advisory committee, and other ways. AtlantiCare purchased two buildings on Route 72 West in fall 2015 in order to expand services it offers in Manahawkin.

As part of its mission to build healthy communities, AtlantiCare’s fourth Health Park will offer a “one-stop-shop” outpatient center that will feature primary care services and multi-specialty physician practices, including but not limited to:
• AtlantiCare Physician Group (APG) Primary Care Plus
• APG OB/GYN
• APG Cardiology
• APG General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery services
• AtlantiCare Clinical Laboratory
• Rothman Institute Orthopaedics
• Atlantic Medical Imaging
• APG AtlantiCare Urgent Care (2017)

The 55,000-square-foot former Pathmark building, located at 517 Route 72 West, across the parking lot from the newly completed facility, will serve as the primary location for the completed Manahawkin Campus. Construction and renovations to this building are expected to be completed in mid-2017, at which time the services located in the former Pizza Hut building will move to this site. It will feature:
• Check in for all services at a single point of entry
• Open social spaces instead of waiting rooms
• A “living room” atmosphere
• Cloud ceilings and skylights

AtlantiCare first began offering services in Manahawkin in 2012.
