About the Edward R. Knight Award
AtlantiCare established the Edward R. Knight Award in 1998 to honor those who contribute to building a healthier community. It is named for the late Edward R. Knight, Ph.D., who was chairman emeritus of ARMC and who devoted more than 50 years of service to improving healthcare for those who live and work in southeastern New Jersey.

Alan J. Simpson, M.D., FACR

About Alan J. Simpson, M.D., FACR
Alan Simpson, M.D., FACR, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, is a radiologist with Atlantic Medical Imaging, where he was a partner in the practice for many years, and served as CEO from 1995 to 2000. He has been a member of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Department of Radiology since 1976. He served as president of the Medical Staff in 1984. He has been a clinical leader and an ardent champion for patient quality and safety issues. He has provided many years of service on several of AtlantiCare’s boards, beginning with the AtlantiCare Foundation Board in 1988, where he served as chairman from 1993 to 1995. He went on to serve on AtlantiCare Health Services Board. He currently serves on AtlantiCare’s System Quality Committee (not a Board position). Simpson was an early adopter of AtlantiCare’s population health strategies and has worked with his fellow physicians to identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary and/or duplicative studies. His efforts have led to a reduction in healthcare costs, and improvements in care quality and patient safety.

The Glenn Family

About The Glenn Family
As a family, the Glenns are a charitable force. What started out with the late Mr. Thomas Glenn, II, and his service to not only AtlantiCare and many other local agencies, is now continued by his beloved wife, Anne Marie, and his children, with Thomas Glenn III, or Tim, serving as the family figurehead. The Glenn legacy is to make a difference. AtlantiCare and the greater community have been recipients of this family’s call to action. The Glenns have had leadership roles working with many local organizations over the last several decades. In addition to the AtlantiCare Foundation, the Glenns participate in CASA of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, the Greater Atlantic City Chamber, the Linwood Education Foundation, and other organizations. Beyond their individual contributions, the Glenns also encourage their entire workforce at Glenn Insurance to make a difference in the communities they serve. They encourage their employees to be good friends, good neighbors, and respected colleagues by corporately supporting initiatives including Toys for Tots, the South Jersey Field of Dreams, and the American Heart Association and its annual Heart Walk. The Glenn family has made a tremendous positive impact on the communities it and AtlantiCare serve through decades of service, leadership, and generosity.
