AtlantiCare Chefs in the Classroom
Visits Miller Elementary School During
National Nutrition Month


Who: AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children Staff and Local Chef with Dozens of Students from Miller Elementary School

What: AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children team will be offering interactive education to students about eating healthy in celebration of National Nutrition Month. Following Chef Shara Gadomski of Northfield shows students step-by-step how to make a tasty and nutritious meal. Children are given recipe cards and other nutrition tips to share with their parents.

When: Friday, March 16, 2 p.m. event starts promptly (Media arrive at 1:45 p.m.)

Where: Dr. Joyanne Miller Elementary School
              2 Alder Avenue
              Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234
              Media should enter through the school’s main entrance.

Parking: Visitor parking is available near the building and street parking can be found in front of the school. Buzz in and identify yourself to enter the building and you will need to present photo ID. Security and AtlantiCare staff will be on site to direct media.

Details: AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children and Chef Shara Gadomski are visiting Miller Elementary to encourage healthy eating during National Nutrition Month. “Chef Shara” will be teaching the students how to cook a nutritious meal that also tastes great. She will be making a meal popular with kids and parents alike, Cauliflower and Bean Tacos.

This visit is one of 15 AtlantiCare Chefs in the Classroom events being held in elementary and high schools across Atlantic County during National Nutrition Month.

“We appreciate the passion our partner chefs share in getting children excited about eating healthy,” says Laura Engelmann, MHA, community health and wellness manager, AtlantiCare. “Students learn about choosing and preparing healthy ingredients that taste good. They also get a lesson in what a career as a chef includes.”

About Chef Shara
Shara Gadomski is the founder of Happy Heart Corner, a business located in Northfield, New Jersey dedicated to improving the lives of our children and families thorough mindfulness and creativity. Shara has fueled her passion for over 20 years by studying and applying techniques in nutrition, Ayurveda, and Baptiste yoga. Happy Heart Corner operates a 1000 square foot facility dedicated to the teaching of kids and families. The staff offers in studio classes in yoga, cooking, art and dance.

Local chefs, members of AtlantiCare’s Growing Green Chef Council, in partnership with AtlantiCare, visit AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children participating schools to offer healthy cooking demonstrations. HSHC organizes demonstrations for any Healthy Schools, Healthy Children partner schools in order to encourage healthy eating habits, and to demonstrate healthy recipes that students can easily make at home.

The AtlantiCare Growing Green Chef Council is a distinguished group of culinary experts working in the greater Atlantic City area committed to increasing access to healthy food for community members, and providing them with the food preparation skills necessary to lead healthier lives.
