National Nutrition Month

AtlantiCare’s team is sharing healthy eating tips through social media. Topics including reading food labels; packing a healthy school lunch; making healthy smoothies, eating for heart health, and more.

AtlantiCare’s Healthy Schools, Healthy Children team will partner with local chefs, including those on AtlantiCare’s Growing Green Chef’s Council, to show students how to prepare healthy foods at approximately 15 schools in Atlantic County throughout the month.

AtlantiCare took a Sip in the Right Direction in September by refraining to serve or sell sugar-sweetened beverages in its hospital campuses and other sites. Experts can discuss the benefits of sugarless sips.

Wednesdays - AtlantiCare will share nutrition and wellness information through its Wellness Wednesday Facebook posts.

Pot of Golden Nutrition - March 15, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. - The Hammonton Family Success Center will create Healthy St. Patrick’s Day rainbow fruit kabobs.


National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. AtlantiCare experts can discuss prevention, risk factors, signs/symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of colon cancer.

Facebook Live - March 8, 7 p.m. - AtlantiCare will host a Facebook live chat with James Wurzer, MD, PhD, medical director, Department of Radiation Oncology, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and associate professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, Fox Chase Cancer Center. To submit questions in advance, email laura.stetser@atlanticare.org or submit questions through AtlantiCare’s Facebook page listing of this event prior to or during the event.

Ladies Night Out - March 13, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - AtlantiCare will host Ladies Night Out - The Fiber in Your Life - Squeeze your cheeks! Tiffany Fancher, MD, AtlantiCare Physician Group Board-certified and fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon will discuss prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer during the dinner lecture at Atlantic City Country Club. AtlantiCare will stream the lecture live on Facebook.

Daylight Saving Time starts March 11 at 2 a.m., which means we gain beautiful sunlight—but lose an hour of sleep. AtlantiCare experts can discuss how much sleep we need, why many of us are not getting enough and how a lack of sleep affects our hearts, weight, moods and even our brains.

Patient Safety Week, March 11-17

From being Flu-vaccinated to helping patients manage their medications, AtlantiCare experts can discuss how AtlantiCare is enhancing patient safety and why it’s important to be proactive about one’s own safety.

AtlantiCare to present 250th AED, March 26

The AtlantiCare Foundation will present its 250th automated external defibrillator through its Heart Heroes matching funds program to Assumption Regional Catholic School, Galloway. Assumption students have partnered with AtlantiCare by raising matching funds for four other donations in Galloway, including the 150th AED AtlantiCare placed in the Galloway Municipal Building in 2015.

Diabetes Alert Day, March 27

Learn to Control Your Diabetes - AtlantiCare will mark the American Diabetes Association’s Diabetes Alert Day by starting a six-week Learn to Control Your Diabetes at the William L. Gormley AtlantiCare HealthPlex March 20. Subsequent sessions are March 27 and April 2,9,16 and 23.

Diabetes Education and Support - AtlantiCare experts can discuss risk factors, prevention, and management of diabetes and share information AtlantiCare’s Adult Diabetes Support Group, Insulin Pump and Pre-diabetes meetings.

National Doctors Day – March 30

From mentoring each other to sharing personal stories with patients, AtlantiCare physicians can share how they connect with each other, and patients.


A Pink Celebration for Breast Cancer Survivor

AtlantiCare Surgery Center nurse Cyndi Weiveris is marking five years since her breast cancer surgery. As her colleagues celebrate with her, Cyndi is helping others facing breast cancer. See Cyndi’s story here.
