Colon Cancer Risk Factors

Researchers have found several risk factors that might increase a person's chance of developing colorectal polyps or colorectal cancer. get screenedThese include:

  • Being overweight or obese
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Certain types of diet
  • Family history

While there is no sure way to prevent colorectal cancer, you can minimize your risk of developing the disease my taking steps to maintain a healthier lifestyle and changing the risk factors you can control:

  • Eat a healthy, well-balance diet with less processed foods
  • Exercise
  • Do not smoke, ever
  • Cut down on your alcohol intake
