The family of the late Scott E. Monk, DO, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, presented the Scott E. Monk, DO, Memorial Scholarship Award to Sarah O’Neil, RN, of Northfield, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s 15th Annual Trauma Symposium at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino May 21.
The Monk family established the yearly $5,000 scholarship to honor the life and teachings of the former medical director of the Harrah’s Regional Trauma Center at ARMC. It is open to AtlantiCare employees and their dependents.
O’Neil, a registered nurse at the Trauma Center, is attending the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, seeking a Master’s degree with a goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. “I was privileged to have worked with Dr. Monk for a year,” she said, adding she was honored to receive the scholarship. “He was a good doctor, and a good person.”
More than 550 attended the symposium. Experts including those from ARMC, its clinical partners and hospitals/healthcare organizations from across the country, shared best practices for care of the trauma patient in 30 different sessions.
