Volunteer Opportunities

What role do volunteers play in hospice care? Because round-the-clock, supportive care is the hallmark of the hospice experience, hospice provides trained volunteers to aid the family and patients. Most hospice volunteers are trained to relieve the primary caregivers by doing household chores, running errands or providing companionship. Perhaps the most important task, however, is their ability to be "good listeners."

Some volunteers are more comfortable exercising their office skills than providing direct patient care. A team of office support volunteers regularly assists with filing, assembling patient information packets, copying manuals and handouts, answering telephones, updating computer records, shredding papers and working with the monthly mailings. Other volunteers standby to assist with special tasks and short-term staff requests. The many hours of office support given by volunteers helps to lower overhead costs and free monies for direct patient care.

Making a Donation

Donations may be made to AtlantiCare Hospice in honor or memory of loved ones or friends. Donations enable us to provide supportive care to the terminally ill and their families. The memories of your loved ones or friends are honored as AtlantiCare Hospice reaches out to others in their time of need. Thank you.

Memorial contributions honor the memory of loved ones, who can be either a direct relative or a family member of your friends or co-workers. Families will often request donations to AtlantiCare Hospice in lieu of flowers.

Honorariums are made in honor of someone living to show love or respect. These gifts can observe a birthday, anniversary, holiday or a special recognition.

AtlantiCare Hospice employees do not accept gifts and/or bequests from patients and families. This includes paid and unpaid staff (volunteers). If you would like to recognize an AtlantiCare Hospice staff member, you may give a donation "in recognition" of them. This donation will help to further the mission of AtlantiCare Hospice, and give the employee or volunteer special recognition. Staff members honored with a donation will be recognized at our monthly staff meeting.

General donations are given to AtlantiCare Hospice from people who have observed or heard of our work in the community. These donations ensure that we remain a healthcare option in southern New Jersey.

All donations/contributions/memorials are acknowledged with a letter to the donor. A list of donors is sent to the family of the person being remembered at the end of each month.

Please make your check payable to AtlantiCare Hospice and include your name as well as the name of the person you wish to honor and mail donations to:
