Volunteer Opportunities

volunteer_photoCompassionate volunteers enrich the environment of AtlantiCare by donating their time and sharing their talents with the patients, visitors, and staff. Volunteer opportunities are available in the hospitals in Atlantic City and Pomona, as well as other sites including Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township, Hammonton, and Manahawkin. Some ways to make a positive difference in the communities we serve are:

  • Helping on patient floors visiting patients, providing amenities, engaging in conversation. Helping staff with discharges, assorted tasks.
  • Bumper “T” Caring clowns – visiting patients to provide a lighthearted, whimsical visit.
  • Creative Arts and Healing – musicians to play on patient floors/hospital lobby, pet therapy dogs, sharing other creative talents (magician, origami, etc.)
  • Greeting visitors and escorting them to their destination
  • Helping in Dietary, Logistics, or Environmental Services
  • Helping in offices with filing, answering phones, data entry, mailings, assembling information packets
  • Pastoral – providing spiritual support, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist
  • No One Dies Alone – sit vigil in the hospital with patients at end of life
  • Hospice – visit patients/caregivers in their homes or extended care facilities to provide companionship or caregiver respite
  • Knitting and Crocheting – donation of new, handmade blankets/shawls to be given to hospice patients
  • Heart Heroes – participate in fundraising for a matching funds program to place automatic external defibrillators in the community
  • Auxiliary – members participate in fundraising activities to benefit the hospitals

Adult volunteers are ages 18 and over. Junior volunteers are ages 14 through 17.
