Health Insurance

For 2012 AtlantiCare is offering two benefit plans for you to choose from. These plans include the AtlantiCare Engaged Plan and the AtlantiCare Preferred Provider Plan (PPO). Each plan was designed to meet your family’s healthcare needs, and each offers access to AtlantiCare providers and the Horizon network of providers.

If you waive your medical benefits, $45 per pay* will be deposited into a healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA).

AtlantiCare offers you the choice of two dental plans, Basic or Plus. The Basic plan provides comprehensive preventive coverage for you and your family. You do have the option to buy up to the Plus plan which, in addition to your preventive care, provides some orthodontia coverage for children up to age 19.

Both medical plans include a vision benefit. This benefit will pay $70 toward an annual vision exam and $60 for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses every two years. For added vision coverage you may also want to enroll in the “United Healthcare Vision” program.

Prescription Plan

Offered through “Express Scripts”, this plan provides access to a large network of retail pharmacies and a mail order feature. In addition, the AtlantiCare Pharmacy offers AtlantiCare employees and their families the opportunity to fill prescriptions at little or no cost. The pharmacy has two locations, one at the AtlantiCare HealthPlex in Atlantic City and one in Galloway, located a short distance from the Mainland Campus on Jimmie Leeds Road.

FSA Account

The FSA account provides a tax advantage to the participant by allowing you to pay for qualified medical expense with non-taxable dollars. These accounts do have some rules and limitations associated with them and are heavily regulated by the IRS due to their non-taxable status.

Malpractice Insurance

AtlantiCare provides resident with malpractice insurance coverage for all professional activities performed within The AtlantiCare Regional Hospital, to the limit of one million ($1,000,000) per occurrence and three million ($3,000,000) total aggregate per year.

Voluntary Legal Plan

If you enroll in this plan, you will have access to experienced attorneys who will provide you and your family with unlimited, comprehensive and quality legal assistance without charging any attorney fees for most personal pre-litigation legal matters.

AFLAC (American Family Life Assurance Company)

Employees are provided the opportunity to enroll in several AFLAC voluntary programs.  Employees pay the total cost of these policies through the convenience of payroll deductions.  These include:

    • Voluntary Life

    • Voluntary Accident

    • Voluntary Cancer

Disability Insurance

To qualify for short-term disability (STD) an employee must have had at least 20 weeks in covered NJ employment and have earned a minimum amount either in base weeks or a base year.  This amount is set by the state of NJ and updates annually.  If an employee has available time, he/she can be paid the first week of time directly from AtlantiCare for his/her own sickness or injury.  UNUM administers our FMLA and STD programs.  They can be reached at 877-339-7485.

Long-term disability (LTD) protects full-time employees who have been employed at least one year from lost earnings when illness or injury causes total disability.  LTD begins after you have been disabled for six months. There are two options to choose from:

  1. Employee is paid 50% of monthly earnings up to a maximum of $2500/month.
  2. Employee can elect the higher option of 66 2/3% of monthly earnings up to $5000.  Employee pays cost of higher coverage

Family and Medical Leave

The FMLA enables an employee to take an unpaid leave of absence to care for a seriously ill family member, or child within the first year of birth, adoption or foster care placement.  Employees may use the leave for their own serious health conditions, which will run concurrently with the short-term disability benefits.

Life Insurance

As a full-time employee you automatically receive, at no cost, a life insurance benefit in the amount of 1.5 times your base annual salary.

403(b) Retirement Plan and Match

There is a 2% auto enrollment in our 403(b) retirement plan unless you opt out within the first 60 days of employment.  This is a defined contribution plan and your contributions are tax deferred so your taxable income is lower. Earnings continue to grow tax-deferred until you withdraw this money.  This plan is administered by MetLife.

In addition, AtlantiCare will match 25% of your contribution up to the first 4% of your salary that you defer into your 403(b) plan.  Once you have completed three years of service in which you work at least 500 hours in each year, you will be fully vested in this match.

Retirement Savings

AtlantiCare will provide you annually with a non-elective fully vested contribution to the Atlanticare 403(b) Retirement Plan.  This contribution is equal to 3% of your eligible compensation.  To receive this contribution, you must be at least age 18, on payroll the last day of the plan year and have worked 1000 hours in that year.

529 College Savings Plan

Employees are eligible to make post-tax contributions to the Scholars Choice College Savings Program.  This program helps families save and pay for college expenses with a 529 plan that is easy to set up, flexible and available nationwide.

BLS/ACLS Training and Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training and recertification are available through AtlantiCare’s Life Support Education Center.

The Resident will have access to ARMC’s cafeteria during regularly scheduled cafeteria hours while on duty.  ARMC provides a meal credit of up to $75 per week.  This is to include a meal credit for residents when taking in-house overnight call.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling and referral program designed to help employees and their immediate family members deal with personal problems before they reach crisis proportions.
