The AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Auxiliary held its annual luncheon June 16 at Frog Rock Golf and Country Club in Hammonton. More than X members and guests attended, including family members of Patty Karaisz, Galloway, who was named Auxilian of the Year.

Clare Schroer, 1976 Auxilian of the Year, presented the award to Karaisz, administrative assistant, Nursing Administration, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, and ARMC Mainland Auxiliary member. "Patty exemplifies what it means to be an Auxilian, and she goes above and beyond in her volunteer work with the Auxiliary. She has taken on many of her own fundraising projects, such as in-house employee craft sales," said Schroer. "The first line out of Patty's mouth at every meeting is 'I have an idea!' – many of which have turned into great fundraisers that benefit the Auxiliary and its goals."

Linda Stanton, of Mullica Township stepped down after a six-year tenure as Auxiliary president as Charmaine DellaNeve, of Galloway, was instated. Stanton served as president 1978-1980 and 2008-2014, and reflected on her recent presidency as she addressed luncheon guests. Highlights of the period, she said, included designing events, such as the Auxiliary's annual Pike-A-Thon; decorating the ARMC Mainland Campus for the holidays with patients; and bringing the Phillie Phanatic to the Center for Childbirth.

"Not everything can be counted in dollars and cents," said Stanton. "Over the last six years, members of this Auxiliary have donated more than 13,500 hours." Thanking the Auxiliary, she added that "All of you – board, members, friends – you have become like family." Stanton will continue her work with the Auxiliary, serving on the Executive Board as Immediate Past President 2014 – 2016.

DellaNeve, who was instated as the Auxiliary's new president, was a patient at ARMC herself in 2008 and 2010, and said she wanted to give back to AtlantiCare. "My surgeries were life-changing, and the medical and emotional support that I received as a patient and the outcomes of my surgeries were so positive. The work that the Auxiliary does supports AtlantiCare and helps staff provide quality care and quality patient experience."

DellaNeve joined the Auxiliary in January 2013 and was named to the Auxiliary board as a member-at-large in October. "The Mainland Auxiliary is such a vibrant, involved organization," she added. "I have been awed by the strong, generous, passionate women on the Auxiliary's Board and by the great work this Auxiliary accomplishes."

"It is our primary goal to support AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus, and each of us has a role to play to make our work meaningful," DellaNeve told luncheon guests. "I am honored and humbled to have been chosen as president of the Auxiliary during this exciting time."
