A heart attack occurs when your blood suddenly loses its pumping ability because one or more of your coronary arteries is blocking the flow of blood to the heart muscle, preventing the flow of oxygen.

Women often experience upper back or shoulder pain and/or pain in the jaw. The most common symptom for men is chest pain or discomfort in the center of the chest.
