Details: AtlantiCare representatives will present an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the Mid-Atlantic Center (MAC) for the Arts & Humanities, on behalf of the Heart Institute at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Heart Heroes. This will be the 99th AED AtlantiCare has presented through the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Heart Heroes’ Matching Funds Program since it began in 2002. Twenty of those presentations have been in Cape May County.

The ARMC Heart Heroes is a volunteer group that raises funds for the Heart Institute at ARMC and the AtlantiCare Foundation to place AEDs in the community. The Heart Heroes fund a portion of the AED and community groups and/or organizations provide the remaining funds. AEDs can restore a normal heart rhythm in victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Audible and/or visual prompts guide the user through the process.

The Emlen Physick Estate, built in 1879 in Victorian stick style, is Cape May County’s only Victorian House Museum. Its design is attributed to Frank Furness.  Every year approximately 262,000 visitors participate in, enjoy and learn from MAC’s year-round programs, tours and activities. The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors. MAC membership is open to all. For information about MAC’s year-round schedule of tours, festivals, and special events, call 609-884-5404 or 800-275-4278, or visit MAC’s Web site at www.capemaymac.org.
