AtlantiCare celebrated the opening of its newest facility July 10, 2013 with a grand opening reception and a ribbon cutting at its new Cape May Court House campus. A $18.1 million, two-story 21,450 square-foot facility, the campus includes an extension of the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute, a Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner, based in Egg Harbor Township; offices for AtlantiCare Physician Group Primary Care and Specialty Services, and physician time-share offices.
“Through our partnership with Fox Chase, we’re providing expanded access to clinical trials and other vital specialty services,” said David Tilton, president and CEO, AtlantiCare. “We are truly honored to have this opportunity to broaden our services in Cape May County and help the people in this region achieve their health care goals in this beautiful new facility.”
“We design our care – and services – based on our vision of “building health communities,” said Eugene Arnone, chairman, AtlantiCare Health System Board. “I want to thank the members of our Cape May County Advisory Panel, several of whom are with us tonight for helping us define solutions to these health and wellness needs.” Arnone also thanked the 35 artists from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, who contributed to the more than 90 pieces of artwork in the facility through AtlantiCare’s Healing Arts Program, explaining AtlantiCare dedicates one percent of all new building costs to the arts, “which contribute to a serene, healing environment.”
AtlantiCare’s extension of its Cancer Care Institute is located on the first floor of the new facility and utilizes the latest in cancer care technology: a Varian Trilogy™ Linear Accelerator providing image-guided radiation therapy optimized for conventional and stereotactic approaches to treating cancer; a GE Optima 580 W CT Scanner; and a Varian VariSource™ iX and iX(t) HDR afterloader for delivering high dose rate brachytherapy with a new level of digital technology. Six private infusion bays for radiation and other infusion therapies; an on-site pharmacy and laboratory; and access to clinical trials through AtlantiCare’s partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center; will contribute to patients’ treatment. The AtlantiCare Cancer Institute employs a multidisciplinary, team-based and personalized approach to cancer care and offers individual and community education to patients and their families.
The second floor of the facility houses offices for AtlantiCare Physician Group Primary and Specialty Services, including APG Primary Care Plus, APG Cardiology; APG Neurology; and APG OB/GYN; and includes physician time-share offices. Rothman Institute Orthopaedics participates in the time-share.
Also located in the AtlantiCare Health Park, Cape May Court House campus, are the AtlantiCare Surgery Center, Cape May Court House, Building 100, which opened in 2009, and Atlantic Medical Imaging offices, Building 421, which opened in 2002. AtlantiCare’s Health Park, Cape May Campus, is designed to offer convenient access to quality primary and specialty care services. AtlantiCare’s first Health Park in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, where the AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute, a Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner, and AtlantiCare’s first Urgent Care and Surgery centers are located, is based, in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, which opened in 1997. Its second Health Park campus, in Hammonton, opened in 2011 and includes AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Satellite Emergency Department; AtlantiCare Clinical Laboratories, other AtlantiCare services, Atlantic Medical Imaging offices, and physician time-share space.
“We are continually evaluating how we can meet the needs of our community – which includes making access to quality care more convenient,” said Lori Herndon, executive vice president, AtlantiCare and president and CEO AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. “We have a long history of serving those who live in Cape May County. These patients have been touched by many of our Regional Services over the years – from trauma care to joint replacements, heart surgery and life-saving care for babies born prematurely. We will continue to provide excellence in clinical care right here in southern New Jersey.
