Knee Surgery

Knee pain has a variety of causes: arthritis, a sprain, a strain, etc. However, when a knee is severely damaged by disease or injury such as osteoarthritis, surgery is likely needed. Depending on the severity of the damage to the knee, there are a few different options for you to choose from. For example:

  • Arthroscopic knee surgery. This may be done first to see inside the knee and to determine the cause of the pain. Then doctors can determine whether you need total knee replacement surgery or partial knee replacement surgery.
  • Quadriceps-Sparing Total knee replacement surgery. We use a minimally invasive procedure. This means a smaller incision, and less discomfort because we don’t cut the quadriceps muscle or dislocate the kneecap to implant the replacement knee. Also, the recovery time is much faster than the conventional option.
  • Partial Knee Replacement. If the knee pain you’re experiencing is only on one side of the knee, you might need a partial knee replacement. We perform this through a minimally invasive surgery. You’ll have less blood loss and we’ll be able to preserve a greater amount of healthy bone and soft tissue.  Recovery and rehabilitation time will also shorter.

Knee replacements are common. Nearly 600,000 knee replacement surgeries are performed annually in the U.S. If you’re experiencing knee pain, relief could be just a phone call away.
