AtlantiCare's president and CEO David Tilton, MBA, FACHE, is the recipient of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber's 2015 John G. FitzPatrick and Redenia Gilliam-Mosee Business Leader of the Year Award.

The Chamber presented Tilton with the award during a special award ceremony March 4 at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. The Chamber has annually recognized the most dynamic and influential individuals in the community since the mid-1960s. A selection committee composed of past recipients selects the honorees.

"Mr. Tilton is a true leader in business and richly deserving of this honor," said Victor Nappen, chairman, Greater Atlantic City Chamber.

Tilton joined AtlantiCare in 1987 as administrator of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's (ARMC) Mainland Campus. He was named president of both campuses of ARMC in 1993 and was instrumental in ARMC's quality advancement and the development of AtlantiCare, a regional health system established in 1993. He was named president and CEO in 2007.

A highlight of Tilton's career was AtlantiCare's earning the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award 2009. The U.S. Secretary of Commerce selects only a handful of organizations each year for the highest national presidential award for quality and performance excellence. As a Baldrige Award recipient, AtlantiCare is a role model for organizational management and continuous quality improvement.

Tilton serves on the Board of the Health Research & Educational Trust, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Regional Policy Board of the AHA. Under Tilton's leadership AtlantiCare was included in Modern Healthcare's 2010 "Best Places to Work in Healthcare"; received the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet® designation (and two subsequent re-designations); and earned the Premier Cares Award.

Tilton earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University and his Bachelor of Science degree from Rider University.
