Meet our Lactation Consultant: Jodi Wetzel, RN, IBCLC

Jodi Wetzel baby Ellie Constance Marie Pascual 3 croppedIn honor of National Breastfeeding Month, we’re highlighting our amazing team of lactation consultants! These caring women provide education for moms- and dads-to-be and to newly delivered parents about the benefits of breastfeeding – and help support new moms as they welcome new babies and start breastfeeding.

Our lactation consultants are all nurses, and have spent careers working with moms and babies. They bring a special passion for breastfeeding to their work at AtlantiCare’s Roger B. Hansen Center for Childbirth and AtlantiCare’s OB/GYN practices. The team provides support to inpatients at AtlantiCare’s Mother/Baby Unit and its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as offering out-patient appointments and support seven days a week, regardless of where a mom delivered.

Jodi Wetzel, RN, IBCLC, has been with AtlantiCare for more than 30 years. She has a strong background in pediatric, neonatal intensive care, and maternal/child health nursing and chairs AtlantiCare’s Baby Friendly Task Force. She has been certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 1997. Among other tasks, she gathers and reports on data for AtlantiCare’s Baby Friendly Designation, which the organization achieved in 2016. She is certified in Basic Life Support and is a certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP) provider through the American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association.. Jodi hosts AtlantiCare’s monthly Breastfeeding Tea and leads breastfeeding education for AtlantiCare staff nurses at AtlantiCare’s Roger B. Hansen Center for Childbirth. #breastfeeding #NBM17
