Alex Axelrad, MD, FACS

As Trauma medical director at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC), Dr. Axelrad leads trauma staff, physicians, surgeons and specialists in caring for critically injured patients. He served as ARMC’s assistant director of Trauma from 1996 to 2003. Dr. Axelrad was previously a trauma surgeon at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

Dr. Axelrad is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery with a subspecialty in Critical Care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Committee on Trauma for the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School recently presented Dr. Axelrad with an excellence in teaching award. He has authored several published articles and lectured at numerous national and international conferences. His most recent presentation was delivering the inaugural “International Course in Trauma” sponsored by the Hospital de Clinicas Pichincha, Quito, Ecuador.
