David Safran, MD, FACS, FCCP Dr. Safran is director of Surgical Critical Care, medical director of Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit, and chairman of the Department of Critical Care at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He has also served as interim medical director of ARMC Trauma Services. Dr. Safran has published numerous abstracts and articles on subjects related to abdominal pathology, pathophysiology and infectious diseases in critically ill patients, including early descriptions and reviews of the effects of increased intra-abdominal pressures on hemodynamics and cardiopulmonary function. He has taught and lectured extensively on local, regional and national platforms about trauma care, cardiopulmonary physiology, ventilator management, and antimicrobial use in critically ill patients. Dr. Safran has earned many awards for research and teaching. One is the Red Sash Award which the senior class of the University of Alabama gives faculty members who have had the most significant input into their medical education. Dr. Safran is an active member in the Eastern Association of Trauma, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has served as an invited reviewer for Chest. He contributed to the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Multidisciplinary Critical Care Knowledge Assessment Program examination. |
