Jeffrey S. Young, MD

Dr. Young is director of the Trauma Center and medical director of Quality and Performance Improvement at Virginia Health System. He is the professor of surgery and public health sciences at the University of Virginia Health System.

Dr. Young is president-elect of the Virginia Surgical Society, chairman of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and serves as an associate member of the Verification Review Committee. He is an examination consultant for the American Board of Surgery and member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he attained his Medical Doctor degree at the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency in general surgery and a fellowship in trauma surgery at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. Young has published numerous manuscripts, abstracts and presentations on various topics in traumatic injuries and critical care.
