David Safran, MD
Dr. Safran has published numerous abstracts and articles on subjects related to abdominal pathology, pathophysiology and infectious diseases in critically ill patients, including early descriptions and reviews of the effects of increased intra-abdominal pressures on hemodynamics and cardiopulmonary function. He has taught and lectured extensively on local, regional, and national platforms on subjects that include trauma care, cardiopulmonary physiology, ventilator management, and antimicrobial use in critically ill patients.

Dr. Safran has been presented with a number of awards for research and teaching, including the Red Sash Award for excellence in teaching when a faculty member at the University of South Alabama.

Dr. Safran is an active member in the Eastern Association of Trauma, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and has served in the past as an invited reviewer for the Critical Care Medicine and Chest.

He has also been a contributor to the Multidisciplinary Critical Care Knowledge Assessment Program examination sponsored by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Safran is currently the Director of Surgical Critical Care, Medical Director of the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit, and the Chairman of the Department of Critical Care at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. He has also recently served as the interim Medical Director of the Trauma Service at ARMC.
