Patients receiving a breast cancer diagnosis often face difficult medical decisions – and overwhelming emotions. To give them the support they need, AtlantiCare offers the free services of Breast Health Coordinator, Linnea Brown, BA, RN, OCN. Linnea is a highly qualified professional, with more than 10 years of oncology (cancer) nursing experience. She serves as a partner and guide throughout the treatment and recovery process:
- Helping patients understand their treatment options and providing information that empowers patients and their families in decision making;
- Making certain that patients see the appropriate specialists;
- Scheduling appointments and procedures for the patient – and following up after each one;
- Answering questions and concerns;
- Giving emotional support and connecting patients with others who understand and know how to help.
In addition, Linnea coordinates AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s clinical research studies, specifically focusing on breast cancer treatment. In that role, she has gained extensive knowledge in the detection and treatment of breast cancer. She has worked closely with breast health professionals and breast cancer survivors, making her a valuable resource to women in our community. For her service, dedication and compassionate care, Linnea was recognized as a 2005 Spirit of Women award recipient.
