Elisabeth Mason, DO

Dr. Elisabeth Mason says primary care gives her the opportunity to really get to know her patients, as individuals. “My medical school training was focused on seeing the patient as a whole person, not just a problem to be solved,” Dr. Mason explains. “That really resonates with me. I meet my patients where they are, with compassion, and help them make good decisions,” she says.

Dr. Mason is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. A biology graduate of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, she earned her medical degree at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Lynchburg, Virginia. She completed her internal medicine residency at Hackensack Meridian Health – Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.

She treats adults with long-term conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, lung diseases and high cholesterol – plus flu, sore throat and other short-term problems.

\n\n

“I really like the relationships we build in primary care, even seeing multiple generations of the same family. That builds trust and promotes good health,” she says.

\n\n

She says the relationship is the foundation of education and key to success. “I really thrive on educating my patients about their health. When the patient understands their condition, medications and treatments, they feel a sense of participation. The experience can be overwhelming. I give them the information they need to make the best decisions, breaking it down into layman’s terms,” she says.

Dr. Mason grew up in Atlantic County and knew AtlantiCare would be a good match for her. “As a doctor, I have all the support and resources I need, like social work and mental health services. We get our families support at whatever level they need. That’s a big part of taking care of my patients,” she says.
