Retinal Screenings at AtlantiCare
At AtlantiCare, we care about your total health, including your eyes! We recommend people with healthcare conditions like diabetes receive a comprehensive eye exam annually. Certain retinal health problems, such as retinopathy, may not be detected in a routine vision screening. Our highly qualified team has an extensive background in providing care for diabetic patients as well as treating eye diseases, to ensure complete care for your eye health.
Don’t wait until you have symptoms to schedule an eye exam
A retinal exam isn’t just about checking your vision — it looks at the overall health of your eyes and gives providers a way to detect certain diseases early, before they become more serious. It’s important to have these screenings annually, so that we can monitor changes and keep an “eye” on your health. Retinal screenings can help us detect conditions like:
- Retinal detachment
- Glaucoma
- Age-related macular degeneration
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
Retinal Screenings for diabetes and prediabetics
Annual eye exams are especially important for diabetics or patients who are at risk for diabetes. Some diabetic eye diseases don’t begin with symptoms, and screenings let us diagnose and treat them early. These diseases include:
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic Macular Edema
Even if you aren’t experiencing problems with your vision, it’s important to have a routine screening.
