Women’s Oncology Leadership
Changing the Story for Women Facing Cancer
Meet Kay Yoon-Flannery, DO, MPH, FACS, Chief of Women’s Oncology at AtlantiCare. A nationally recognized, fellowship-trained breast surgeon — and a daughter, wife and mom of four — Dr. Yoon-Flannery brings both brilliance and heart into every conversation, decision and life she touches. Her path to medicine was sparked at an early age — and cemented by a personal determination to challenge bias and break barriers.
She chose AtlantiCare to lead a movement: to change the story for women facing cancer. Her vision is a women’s oncology program that delivers the most advanced treatments with the compassion and clarity every woman deserves.
“My mission is to empower every patient with knowledge, compassion and the confidence to face breast cancer head-on—with dignity and hope.” - Kay Yoon-Flannery, DO, MPH, FACS
Leadership in Women’s Cancer Care
Dr. Yoon-Flannery has built her career advancing breast and women’s oncology while never losing sight of the person behind the diagnosis. She is known for fostering open, compassionate dialogue with patients and families navigating breast cancer, ensuring that every woman feels seen and supported throughout her journey. She is also recognized nationally for bringing modern surgical approaches — including nipple-sparing and drain-free mastectomies and hidden-scar techniques — into a coordinated model of care that prioritizes recovery, dignity and quality of life. Her public health background informs how she designs systems that are effective for patients and sustainable for teams.
Advancing Women’s Cancer Care
As Chief of Women’s Oncology, Dr. Yoon-Flannery is expanding and elevating a program built on the full continuum of care — from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. Her priorities include:
- Expanding access to advanced care close to home
- Streamlining care across genetics, imaging, surgery, medical and radiation oncology and rehabilitation
- Ensuring every woman feels seen, informed and never alone in her care
