Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the AtlantiCare Foundation proudly oversees individual scholarship funds designed to help talented and passionate students and staff attain their personal dream of professional development and education.

Scholarship Opportunities for Healthcare
Dr. James Lowe Nursing Scholarship
The Dr. James Lowe Nursing Scholarship annually supports individuals interested in pursuing a career in nursing. This includes scholarships annually for RN, BSN and/or CRNA degree candidates.
Amanda Cortopassi Nursing Education Scholarship
The Amanda Cortopassi Nursing Education Scholarship Fund was established in memory of nursing student, Amanda Cortopassi, by her family and friends in 2005. The mission of this fund is to sponsor young people, with a passion for caring, on their journey toward becoming nurses.
Scott E. Monk Scholarship Fund
The Scott E. Monk Scholarship Fund was established by the Trauma Center to honor the life and teachings of Dr. Scott Monk. This fund provides financial assistance to students in pursuit of medical education.
The Martha B. Keates Nursing Fellowship Fund
The Martha B. Keates Nursing Fellowship Fund was established by the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus Auxiliary, to honor their longtime volunteer Martha B. Keates for her valued community service and to support nursing at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. While the City Auxiliary is no longer intact, the efforts of their many members, including their former leader Martha B. Keates continues to live on via this scholarship.
The Linda E. Brown Nursing Scholarship
The Linda E. Brown Nursing Scholarship was established in 2019 by the AtlantiCare Foundation as a result of donations received to honor a longtime AtlantiCare employee and friend, Linda E. Brown. This scholarship is intended to ease the financial burden to assist individuals in achieving their goal of becoming a nurse (RN or BSN).
Robyn O. Begley Nursing Scholarship
The Robyn O. Begley Nursing Scholarship was established in 2019 to honor the legacy of former AtlantiCare Chief Nursing Officer, Robyn O. Begley. The intention of this scholarship is to ease the financial burden and assist individuals in achieving their goal of pursing an advanced nursing degree. Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in MSN, NP, and DNP program.

An annual educational scholarship fund supporting high school seniors seeking a career in nursing
The Elizabeth “Betsy” Gilbertson Nursing Scholarship
In recognition of her time and contributions to advance of the health of youth in our community, AtlantiCare is honored to launch the Elizabeth “Betsy” Gilbertson Nursing Scholarship. The intention of this scholarship is to assist those who will be pursuing their nursing degree at a two or four year academic institution.
The Virginia Gormley Masters in Social Work Scholarship
In recognition of her time and contributions to advance of the health of those in our community, AtlantiCare is honored to launch the Virginia Gormley Masters in Social Work Scholarship. The intention of this scholarship is to ease the financial burden of current AtlantiCare team members striving to achieve their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.

Diversity & Employee Resource Group Scholarship Opportunities
ALMA Scholarship
ALMA (AtlantiCare Latinos Moving Ahead) engages and empowers our organization by advancing the cultural awareness and education in the compassionate care of our community. The ALMA Scholarship supports Latino AtlantiCare employees and/or their family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare and whose academic goals align with ALMA’s mission.
AtlantiCare Diversity Internship & Scholarship Program
To provide opportunities for traditionally under-represented students to experience the diversity and scope of career opportunities available in the healthcare environment, through a paid internship and scholarship program.
APEG Scholarship
APEG’s (Asian Pacific Employee Group) purpose is to educate the workforce on issues related to improving the delivery of patient care and focus on the unique health needs of the Asian Pacific community. The APEG Scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members of Asian Pacific descent who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with APEG’s mission.
BALANCE Scholarship
BALANCE’s (Building Active Lifestyles Around Nutrition, Community, and Exercise) purpose is to engage and support the AtlantiCare community to achieve balance and overall well-being by promoting active and healthy lifestyles. The BALANCE scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with BALANCE’s mission.
CAARE Scholarship
CAARE’s (Creating Accessibility, Awareness, Respect and Empowerment) purpose is to enhance AtlantiCare’s culture of inclusion for the disabled community by leveraging unique abilities and removing barriers employees, caregivers and customers face through the healthcare continuum and employment process. The CAARE scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with CAARE’s mission.
The Beverly Woldow EARTHS ERG Scholarship
EARTHS’ (Environmentally Active Resource Team for Healthcare Sustainability) mission is to improve our community’s environmental well-being through education and engaged workforce to be good stewards to our environment, and further our commitment for a sustainable future, ensure a healthy positive impact on the environment. The Beverly Woldow EARTHS ERG scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with EARTHS mission.
ERG Scholarship The 2025 ERG Scholarship is awarded to 11 high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in healthcare, in either clinical or non-clinical fields.
HONORS Scholarship
HONORS’ (Helping our military with Navigation, Opportunity, Resources and Support) compliments the goals of AtlantiCare by promoting and understanding the roles and contributions made by veterans, active duty military employees, and their families. The HONORS Scholarship pertains to AtlantiCare employees and/or their family members who have current or past service with the U.S. military and are pursuing a career in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields).
H.O.P.E. Scholarship
HOPE’s (Helping Others achieve Personal Excellence) purpose is to provide education, awareness, support and advocacy for the needs of recovering individuals and the family/friends of those who are affected by addictions throughout the healthcare continuum in our community. The HOPE scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with HOPE’s mission.
LEADS Employee Scholarship
LEADS (Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Diversity and Support) works to empower women to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. The LEADS Employee Scholarship encourages women to pursue careers in healthcare, in either clinical or non-clinical fields and whose academic goals align with LEADS’ mission.
LEGACY Employee Scholarship
LEGACY’s mission is to empower our workplace and community to embrace diversity and promote healthy living. The LEGACY Employee Scholarship encourages an employee of Black or African-American descent to pursue careers in healthcare, in either clinical or non-clinical fields. The intention of this scholarship is to assist individuals in achieving their goal of pursuing a career in healthcare and whose academic goals align with LEGACY’s mission.
PATHS Scholarship
PATHS’ (Peace, Acceptance, Trust, Healing and Spirituality) purpose is understanding spiritual diversity to benefit collegial relationships, patients, and their families. The PATHS scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with PATHS mission.
P.R.I.D.E. Scholarship
P.R.I.D.E. engages in promoting respect for individuality, diversity and equality for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered community and their families. The P.R.I.D.E. scholarship supports the academic endeavors of AtlantiCare employees and/or their immediate family members who wish to pursue careers in healthcare (clinical or non-clinical fields) and whose academic goals align with P.R.I.D.E.’s mission.
Continuing Education Scholarships
Dr. Jay Khattar Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund set up in memory of Dr. Khatter, a highly respected member of the hospitalist team who passed away unexpectedly in 2015. This scholarship provides financial assistance for medical residents presenting clinical research during a conference of their peers.
Nursing Memorial Education Fund
The Nursing Memorial Education Fund invests in nursing excellence by funding costs of certifications and continuing education.
