Stroke Month

A stroke does not wait.

With every minute that passes, something can be lost. Movement. Speech. Memory. Parts of a life that may not come back the same way.

At AtlantiCare, we are built for that moment.

As a Joint Commission–certified stroke center, our teams are trained to act quickly and work together without hesitation. Often, care begins before a patient even walks through our doors. Our paramedics assess symptoms in the field and alert our hospital teams, so imaging is ready and specialists are standing by.

When a patient arrives, there is no delay. A dedicated stroke team moves immediately. Brain scans are completed within minutes. Critical decisions are made fast, with the goal of protecting as much of the brain as possible.

Because speed changes outcomes.

But what matters just as much is what happens in that time.

Our program combines rapid response with advanced treatment options, including minimally invasive procedures that can remove clots and restore blood flow. Behind it all is a highly specialized team with deep experience in stroke care, working together in real time to guide each decision.

This level of coordination is built, practiced and refined every day.

During National Stroke Month, it is also a reminder to know the signs. The faster you act, the more can be saved. If you notice any of these, call 911 immediately.

Balance — sudden loss of balance or coordination
Eyes — sudden blurred or lost vision
Face — facial drooping or uneven smile
Arms — arm weakness or numbness
Speech — slurred speech or trouble speaking
Time — call 911 immediately

The faster you act, the more can be saved.

At AtlantiCare, every minute is met with preparation, expertise and a team ready to respond. Because when every minute counts, how you use them matters most.
