AtlantiCare Ranks #1 in New Jersey for Coronary Intervention
Earns 22 Healthgrades Awards
October 27, 2026
AtlantiCare continues to earn recognition for delivering high-quality care to patients across South Jersey, with 22 clinical distinctions from Healthgrades highlighting excellence in several areas of specialty care.
Among the honors is a No. 1 ranking in New Jersey for coronary intervention, along with recognition as one of Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery and for excellence in outpatient joint replacement. These achievements reflect AtlantiCare’s commitment to providing exceptional care and improving patient outcomes.
“Recognition of this caliber is a tremendous point of pride for AtlantiCare, particularly because it is earned through the outcomes we achieve for our patients,” said Michael Charlton, President and CEO, AtlantiCare. “Our physicians, nurses and team members have built a culture where clinical excellence is expected, accountability is shared and the pursuit of better outcomes never stops. These distinctions speak to the extraordinary caliber of our people and our continued commitment to delivering world-class healthcare to the communities we are privileged to serve.”
AtlantiCare’s achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Unlike rankings based on surveys or reputation, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance strictly on objective clinical outcomes – risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates – across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
“These distinctions reflect the depth of clinical expertise across AtlantiCare and the discipline our teams bring to patient care,” said Joseph V. Lombardi, MD, MBA, Chief Physician Executive, Chair of the Heart & Vascular Institute. “Strong outcomes are built on rigorous standards, experienced clinicians and teams that continually evaluate how we can improve. That approach extends across our specialties and ultimately gives our patients access to a higher level of care throughout our system.”
The impact of choosing a high-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis revealed that if all hospitals performed at the level of five-star rated facilities during the 2023–2025 study period, 227,229 lives could have been saved and 158,138 complications could have been avoided.*
“Finding a hospital that excels in a given procedure or treatment can transform a patient’s health trajectory,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize AtlantiCare for its top-tier performance in Coronary Intervention and Orthopedic Surgery and commend its team for delivering exceptional patient outcomes when it matters most.”
