Dr. Abraham Spence marks his 100th Aquablation® therapy procedure, restoring quality of life for men across South Jersey

AtlantiCare is marking a major milestone as Abraham M. Spence, MD (link to profile), board-certified urologist, has completed his 100th Aquablation® therapy (link to page) procedure for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate.  It’s a significant step in expanding access to advanced prostate care for men in our community.Dr. Spence and the numbers 100 in gold balloons

Since AtlantiCare introduced Aquablation therapy in late 2024, more than 100 men have experienced relief from the frustrating and often life-altering symptoms of BPH such as frequent urination, urgency, and interrupted sleep. Left untreated, BPH can lead to bladder damage, kidney problems, and long-term incontinence.  Aquablation therapy uses a robotic waterjet, guided by real-time imaging, to remove only the tissue causing blockage while preserving bladder control and sexual function.

For many, the change has been profound. Patients report sleeping through the night for the first time in years, no longer planning their days around bathroom access, and regaining the freedom to travel and stay active without constant discomfort. Partners and families also feel the difference, as routines are no longer disrupted by symptoms. Recovery is typically faster than with traditional surgery, and side effects are often reduced, allowing men to return to their normal lives more quickly.

Reaching this milestone in less than a year reflects both the need for better options and the positive results men are experiencing. It reinforces AtlantiCare’s commitment to helping patients make informed decisions and to delivering care that restores quality of life.
