AtlantiCare Appoints Several Nationally Recognized Senior Physician Leaders

AtlantiCare today announced the addition of four renowned physician leaders, whose talents will progress the organization's Vision 2030 strategy, bolstering specialty care programs in cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesiology, gastroenterology and women's health. These appointments reflect AtlantiCare's continued investment in advanced clinical services, physician recruitment, medical education and improved access to care across the region.

The appointments include:

Scott Falk, M.D. – Chair of Anesthesiology 

As Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at AtlantiCare, Dr. Scott Falk will lead efforts to advance quality, safety and innovation in perioperative care. Throughout his career, he has specialized in caring for medically complex surgical and intensive care patients while fostering high-performing, collaborative clinical teams. As a physician leader, Dr. Falk is committed to developing the next generation of clinicians and creating exceptional care experiences for patients before, during and after surgery.

Chun W. Choi, M.D. – Vice Chair of Heart & Vascular Services and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Dr. Chun W. "Dan" Choi is a highly accomplished cardiac surgeon and physician leader specializing in complex cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. Prior to joining AtlantiCare, he held leadership roles at Johns Hopkins, including Surgical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Devices. Dr. Choi is passionate about expanding access to advanced cardiovascular care and ensuring patients can receive exceptional treatment close to home.

Latha Alaparthi, MBBS, MD, MBA, FACG, AGAF – Chief of Gastroenterology

Dr. Latha Alaparthi is a distinguished gastroenterologist and physician executive with more than 24 years of experience in clinical practice, academic medicine and healthcare leadership. She joins AtlantiCare as Chief of Gastroenterology after serving as Associate Chief Medical Officer at Yale New Haven Health–Bridgeport Hospital. Recognized for her commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and patient-centered care, Dr. Alaparthi is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality digestive health services and advancing excellence in specialty care.

Woojin Chong, MD, FACOG, URPS, CPE – Chair of Women's Health

Double board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Woojin Chong brings extensive experience in clinical leadership, medical education and quality improvement. Prior to joining AtlantiCare, Dr. Chong held academic and leadership appointments with organizations including NYU Langone Health, Mount Sinai and Inspira Health. She is committed to advancing women's health services, improving patient outcomes and ensuring women throughout the region have access to high-quality, personalized care.
