AtlantiCare has expanded its Family Planning program to address the need for services in Atlantic City. As of August 5, the healthcare organization will offer services Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the second Friday of each month from noon to 4:30 p.m. at its William L. Gormley AtlantiCare HealthPlex.

AtlantiCare opened the program in December, 2019. It plans to expand office hours to five days a week by the time the program moves to the organization’s planned Medical Arts Pavilion in Atlantic City.

The three-story, 68,000-foot facility will be at Ohio and Atlantic avenues and will include office space for additional programs and services.

The estimated opening date is summer, 2022.

AtlantiCare is expanding services in part through a two-year, $411 thousand grant from the New Jersey Family Planning League.

“Family planning – or the lack of it – plays an integral role in the health and wellbeing of individuals and families,” said Danielle Pieri, D.O., obstetrician and gynecologist, AtlantiCare Physician Group OB/GYN and medical director, AtlantiCare Family Planning.

“Our goals include ensuring individuals have the education, support, and services they need for their sexual and overall wellbeing."

This includes reducing the number of unintended and adolescent pregnancies and preventing infant and maternal mortality. "The program serves all those of child-bearing age and older regardless of insurance or ability to pay. Services are by appointment and walk-in and include:

  • Family planning counseling and education
  • Birth control methods
  • Pelvic exams
  • Cervical and breast cancer screening
  • HPV vaccines
  • Emergency contraception
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Basic infertility services
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI or STD) testing, prevention, education, and treatment
  • Screening for HIV, PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) assessment and other services
  • Reproductive health issues for adults, adolescents and teens
  • Referrals to other health and social services
