Award recipients, the gormley's and atlanticare leadership

The AtlantiCare Foundation honored four scholarship recipients during its Second Annual Scholarship Breakfast. Each recipient received $5,000 through the Virginia “Ginny” Gormley Master of Social Work Scholarship and the Elizabeth “Betsy” Gilbertson Nursing Scholarship, both created to support the region’s growing need for caregivers.

The scholarships recognize the service of two women whose work shaped the health and well-being of communities across South Jersey. They also underscore AtlantiCare’s commitment to expanding local career pathways that help retain and grow the region’s healthcare workforce.

“The Gormley and Levine families have played a major part in the work of the AtlantiCare Foundation for a long time, and you can feel that in moments like this,” said Michael Charlton, President and CEO of AtlantiCare. “They believe in this region and continue to help AtlantiCare support healthcare students who are moving forward while balancing full shifts and family responsibilities. Their commitment strengthens the workforce pipeline South Jersey relies on.”

2025 Scholarship Recipients:

  • MSW Scholarship: Tina Baez and Beth Ann Bates, AtlantiCare team members pursuing Master of Social Work degrees
  • Nursing Scholarship: Ketan Parmar and Elizabeth Zeck, students beginning or continuing accredited nursing programs

Honoring Ginny Gormley

Virginia “Ginny” Gormley attended the ceremony with her family. The scholarship in her name supports AtlantiCare team members advancing their MSW while balancing work, family responsibilities, and graduate-level coursework.

“Ginny’s life has been defined by service and her dedication to the AtlantiCare Foundation helped make this possible,” said Glen Ann Stoll, Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of the AtlantiCare Foundation. “These scholarships give caregivers the chance to grow in a field that strengthens this region every day.”

Remembering Betsy Gilbertson

The Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Gilbertson Nursing Scholarship honors Gilbertson’s dedication to improving the health of young people across South Jersey and recognizes the lasting impact of her work with UNITE HERE Local 54. Donna DeCaprio, President of UNITE HERE Local 54, joined the breakfast to acknowledge that legacy and the role Betsy played in strengthening the community.

“This scholarship carries forward Betsy’s belief in practical, hands-on care,” Stoll said. “Nursing sits at the center of every care setting and this support helps new nurses begin that work with confidence.”

Recognizing the Levine’s

The Foundation also recognized Lee and Sandra Levine for their long-standing philanthropic partnership, which helps expand opportunities for students pursuing healthcare careers in the region.
