AtlantiCare has received the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) 100 Year Award, recognizing the health system’s century-long membership.  AHA Regional Executive Michael Draine presented the award to AtlantiCare President and CEO Michael Charlton on September 11.

The AHA praised AtlantiCare’s century-long membership and leadership in addressing critical health needs, delivering award-winning care, advancing innovative treatments and improving access to enhance the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize AtlantiCare for 100 years of membership in the AHA and for their dedication to south Jersey,” said AHA Regional Executive Michael Draine. “We thank their leaders, medical staff, caregivers and other colleagues for providing a full range of medical care to the patients and communities they serve.”AAAAHA Original Certificate from 1925

Michael Charlton acknowledged the significance of the recognition and emphasized the shared mission between AtlantiCare and the AHA to improve health and expand access to care.

“The AHA has been a powerful advocate for hospitals and health systems for more than a century, and we’re proud to be recognized among their longstanding partners,” said Charlton. “This honor reflects the commitment of AtlantiCare team members across generations and their shared legacy of service. That legacy continues today, and with the AHA alongside us, we remain focused on keeping care accessible and improving the health of our communities.”

Charlton continued:

“The AHA’s voice has never been more important, and its leadership continues to ensure that hospitals and health systems have the resources, policy support, and national visibility we need to deliver on our missions. It has been a privilege to serve as an AHA Board member and to contribute directly to this critical work. Together, we’ve advanced meaningful solutions — from workforce and behavioral health challenges to payment reform and digital transformation — that strengthen care delivery for hospitals and health systems across the country. I am proud that AtlantiCare has had a role in shaping these conversations, and I look forward to continuing our work with the AHA to improve health for the patients and communities we serve.”

Founded in 1898, AtlantiCare has grown from a single hospital into the region’s largest healthcare provider. Today, more than 6,500 team members deliver care at over 110 locations, including two hospitals, three emergency departments, and the region’s only Level II trauma center.
