Care for Knee Pain
Your knee is the largest joint in your body, which also makes it vulnerable to injury or other problems. Sports, exercise and general wear and tear can cause muscle strains, tendinitis and more serious injuries to ligaments and cartilage. Chronic conditions like arthritis can also cause cartilage to break down as you age. All of these can lead to serious knee pain and keep you from living a full and active life.

Treatments to Get You Moving Again
We always begin by listening, to understand exactly what you’re dealing with and how it’s impacting your life. Then together, we’ll find the best solution for your pain, which may include:
Nonsurgical treatments
Anti-inflammatory medications, cortisone injections and physical therapy are all proven nonsurgical options that may alleviate your pain.
Surgery
If your knee is severely damaged by an injury or disease such as osteoarthritis, surgery may be recommended. Depending on your specific condition, options include:
Arthroscopic knee surgery
This minimally invasive procedure may be done to see inside the knee and determine the cause of your pain, and/or treat conditions like ACL tears or other ligament injuries. Arthroscopy can also help postpone arthritis by treating its cause in the early stages, and delay or eliminate the need for joint replacement by preemptively treating conditions that cause osteoarthritis.
Knee replacement
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for providing the highest national standards of care in knee replacement, right here in South Jersey.
Our skilled surgeons specialize in total knee replacement, as well as partial knee replacement if the problem is confined to one area of the knee. We use some of the most minimally invasive techniques available, including robotic-assisted surgery, which often results in less post-operative pain, a more natural-feeling joint and a faster recovery. We may even have you home the same day as your surgery.
And we're here to support you every step of the way, from pre-surgery education through personalized rehabilitation and back to the life you love. Learn more about our award-winning knee replacement program.
